AI, Robots &amp; 4D Printing in Action"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/ai-set-to-disrupt-28-of-global-forestry-goldman-sachs-report\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Timber-based construction is amongst the industries most impacted&nbsp;<\/a>by the push towards AI and automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/ai-set-to-disrupt-28-of-global-forestry-goldman-sachs-report\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to a report published by Goldman Sachs<\/a>, the construction industry has 20% exposure to automation and AI replacement \u2013&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/how-3d-printing-is-being-used-to-produce-tree-free-wood\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">including 3D printing&nbsp;<\/a>and&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/woodcentral.com.au\/discover-how-ai-is-disrupting-modular-prefab-construction\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">robotics<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/archinect.com\/schools\/cover\/3107\/universit-t-stuttgart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Stuttgart<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/archinect.com\/schools\/cover\/150274754\/university-of-freiburg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the University of Freiburg<\/a>&nbsp;have used robots and automated manufacturing to construct and install a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icd.uni-stuttgart.de\/projects\/livmats-biomimetic-shell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">domed timber pavilion<\/a> at the University of Freiburg campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icd.uni-stuttgart.de\/projects\/livmats-biomimetic-shell\/\"><em>liv<\/em>MatS Biomimetic Shell prototype<\/a> uses a combination of computational design methods, robotic fabrication and automated assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"4q2E3QZyg_M\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"livMatS Biomimetic Shell\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4q2E3QZyg_M?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>FIT Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies, University of Freiburg, 2023.
