Government regulators, key developers and builders flew 955 km from Adelaide to the Olympic City today to pay homage to mass timber \u2018royalty\u2019 \u2013 25 King.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation, led by South Australian Minister for Regional Development and Forest Industries Clare Scriven<\/a>, took part in an intensive two-day inspection of engineered timber structures and research facilities across Brisbane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An initiative of the South Australian Forest Products Association<\/a>, delegates on the CLT timber study tour were welcomed at 25 King by executives of the builder-owner Lendlease<\/a>, anchor tenant Aurecon <\/a>and Timber Queensland<\/a>, guest of the tour dinner on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most innovative buildings to ascend in Brisbane\u2019s inner city and opened in 2018 as part of the $2.9 billion renewal of the Brisbane RNA showgrounds, 25 King was for a time the largest mass timber office building by gross floor area in the world.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it stands Milwaukee\u2019s Ascent MKE Building<\/a> is the world\u2019s tallest timber building, surpassing Norway\u2019s 18-story Mj\u00f6sa Tower<\/a> in July 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, with the proposed Milligan Group\u2019s hybrid timber <\/a>tower and the Atlassian Central Tower<\/a> under construction, Australia is set to retake the mantle. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
