Delegates were eligible for six informal points which are recognised by the Building Design Association of Australia and Building Design Queensland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Billed as one of the most impressive panel of presenters ever assembled, the event did not disappoint.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kicking off the conference, delegates were treated to a presentation by Yvonne Pengilly<\/a>, former QBCC deputy commissioner and board member about non-confirming and non-compliant building products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nYvonne, director of Cairns-based Myown Constructions, provided examples of how timber has been successfully integrated into her own developments, which include many projects across southeast Queensland and Far North Queensland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the coming weeks, Wood Central will have an exclusive opinion piece from Yvonne, who is also a non-executive director of FWPA, covering her experiences from the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second speaker was Steve Gibson<\/a>, Australia and New Zealand manager of Wattyl Australia, Australia\u2019s largest paint company, who spoke about Monterey, one of Australia\u2019s biggest apartment complexes constructed from cross-laminated timber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe project was constructed by XLam<\/a> and was recently showcased by the FWPA\u2019s Wood Solutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Steve spoke about Tessa Development\u2019s Orchard development<\/a>, which combined Weathertex cladding with Wattyl paint and was recognised by the UDIA for its commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
